Great Firefox Ad

I know this was published in August of 2006 but it's still great even if some of you may have seen it. Would not hurt to pass it around to friends to spread Firefox.

Suse 11.0 Alpha 1

With another new version comes another new alpha release and a great new look, that is for the install so far. The OpenSUSE development team released on the 18th of this month (January) the alpha version one of the new and awaited for SUSE distro.

The new version has plenty of bugs fixed, and well many bugs to be fixed. If your willing to test the alpha version you can do so by downloading, testing and reporting bugs.

What's been updated
- KDE 4.0.0
- perl 5.10
- glibc 2.7
- NetworkManager 0.7
- CUPS 1.3.5
- Much, Much more!

From looking at it so far and seeing all that has been done and what's to come I must say the install screens look great compared to the old look.

How to set up Apache virtual hosting

Managing one site on a Web server can be tough enough, and the job is even harder if you have to host multiple client sites on a badly configured setup. If you're running Apache, you can make things easier by setting up virtual hosts, which let you control multiple domains on one IP address, allowing you to specify URLs like http://clientsdomain.com/file_name.html instead of http://yoursite.com/hosted/clients_directory/file_name.html, and letting you forgo setting up domain forwarding with a /srv/www/htdocs/hosted/clients_directory file.

Set up wireless broadband access with YaST

Thanks to Linux kernel updates and newly added drivers, wireless broadband access is now easy to set up on laptops. However, some vendors, such as Verizon, don't support broadband PCMCIA adapters. A script can help, but trying to edit a script can be difficult for entry-level users, and Internet service providers (ISP) often provide little information that can help. Enter openSUSE's YaST, a graphical program that can help users configure their laptops to use wireless broadband PC Cards and other types of modems to connect to a network.

Tech Boom and the Space Race, What's to come?

Looking back to those books written by Joles Verne and all the predictions of what the future will hold. And then my grandfather telling stories of things he waited for, such as Phones that have video broadcast of the person your talking to. It all makes you think of what the future will hold in the next ten or so years.

To take a look at what's to come you need to take a look at what we have now and what we can improve to better our lives. So what is it we want in the future, and then take a look at what's in development now, it's all going to change again come another ten years. As someone who loves to see the advancement of technology and predict what will become of the future, I'll list some of the devices I think will be out by 2010-2020 being produced for the general public.

Thanks to faster connection speeds for data transfer your going to start seeing TV's in many house holds become the main computer with Cable stations fading out or transferring everything online as the TVs start to have Fiber optic cable connections built in allowing the user to surf the net and watch shows. Now I know your saying you can do that now with TV cards in computers, what I'm talking about is all in the living room with the big 60" T.V. Your also going to see a lot being connected to the T.V. such as Cell phones that you can sync via wireless with your TV allowing you to see your cell phone or other media devices on your big screen, can you say texting in an all new way! Or how about wireless gaming systems that don't require any wires to connect. How about gaming system that you can get your game on in 3-D. Another possibility as we move to nano technology would be thiner and lighter TV's that are also computers and communication devices all while staying flat screened.

Your also going to see a lot of new devices start coming out from NASA and other private space agency's just like we saw the microwave and cellphones from NASA during the race to the moon. This time we have the race back to the moon and mars granting us many new technologies. A few being created now include new fabrics, Protection suits, satilite technologies, Space crafts, Robots, Tools, and much more. I'm also going to say that Robots are going to be another big thing as they already have been for many years, but I think you will start to see new advancements in the intelligence of these robots and the capabilities of movement that these rovers can do. Schools will be included in the early years to help get more involved in developing and teaching kids about robots and what can be done with them, The only way to help push for a development of these new technologies is with the generations that have grown and learned to use these devices.

As China and other developing Countries start to develop more we are going to need other sources of energy that is non-reliant on coal and oil, such energy as solar and hydrogen. Cars will start to be able to use them more and more and get more miles per gallon. Something else that would be very helpful while driving would be cars networked to the road by chips put into the dividing lines, giving travel info and road conditions based on a pre set destination on the GPS system, cell phone providers will be included in the GPS devices offering TV shows and movies and possibly video games along with Internet and more in home comforts from your car. Houses will start to use solar panels more as companies in Europe and the USA develop lighter and less bulky devices to harvest the energy from the sun, so start looking for nano technology that harvest the light. Start looking for them to be sold in many nations within three-five years at an affordable price. One source of energy that we could only wish could be harvested would be the force of Gravity on the earth.

Medical fields are another big changing thing that relies on technology, so how about the cure of cancer or aids, two of the most leading diseases in the world. Another thing in the Medical field that kinda goes back to one of the predictions listed earlier is robots, we have them now being able to operate on open heart surgeries so let's see if we can have them do more on surgeries, but better and safer. Allowing us to save more lives and money as operations can be done faster, getting more people in and out.

Near the end of the time table I think it's safe to say you will start to hear about devices that can use brainwaves in simulators such as video games and other devices such as computers , T.V's, Cell phones, and much more. It's a matter of time before we start to figure out more on how the brain works and I think that time is soon.

This will all start with a new Tech boom allowing many new devices to come out, as long as we can come up with more engineers and keep the interest of technology and science going we will have a lot to look forward to in the years to come. Lets hope the race for newer and better technology keeps going and hope the race to space is safe. Remember Technology can be fun and also make many lives easier and safer and that's what we all need to look at.
